1. Header

The words “Tax Invoice”, the invoice number and the invoice date. Many businesses also print a due date and payment terms here.

2. Supplier details

Your legal or trade name, address and GSTIN. Phone, email and PAN are optional but help your customer.

3. Recipient details

Customer name and address. For a registered customer, their GSTIN. Show the place of supply (state name and code) — it decides whether you charge CGST + SGST or IGST.

4. Item table

One row per item or service. Typical columns:

#DescriptionHSN/SACQtyRateTaxable valueGST %Tax

5. Tax summary and totals

Taxable value, the tax split (CGST and SGST for a sale within the state, or IGST for a sale to another state), any round-off, and the grand total — ideally also in words.

In the example above, a sale within the state shows CGST 2.5% = ₹62.50 and SGST 2.5% = ₹62.50, for a total of ₹2,625.

6. Footer

Bank or UPI details, terms, and the signature or digital signature of the supplier or authorised person.

GST rates and rules change. Please verify current rules with official government sources or your CA before filing.
