Getting started after you buy BillBook
Thanks for your purchase. These steps take a few minutes: download the file, open it in your browser and set up your business details.
1. Download your copy
- Open the receipt email Gumroad sent after your purchase and click the download button.
- Or log in to your Gumroad library with the email you used at checkout.
- Download the BillBook ZIP file and save it somewhere easy to find, such as Documents.
2. Unzip and open BillBook
- Windows: right-click the ZIP file and choose Extract All. Mac: double-click the ZIP file.
- Open the extracted folder and double-click index.html. It opens in your browser — Chrome, Edge or Firefox work best.
- Bookmark the page, and always open the same file in the same browser. Your data is saved in that browser on this computer.
3. First-time setup
- Go to Settings and enter your business name, address, GSTIN and state.
- Add your first client in the client list.
- Create your first invoice and check the CGST/SGST or IGST split looks right.
4. Keep your data safe
Your invoices, clients and expenses are stored only in your browser. Export a JSON backup regularly and keep a copy somewhere safe. Clearing browser data, using private mode, or moving to another browser or computer will not carry your data over unless you import a backup.
5. Common setup problems
- The ZIP won't open: make sure the download finished, then try extracting it again.
- The page shows code or opens in the wrong app: right-click index.html, choose Open with, and pick your browser.
- My data seems to be missing: check you opened the same file in the same browser you used before. If not, import your latest backup.
- Voice mode or receipt scan doesn't work: these depend on your browser. Try the latest Chrome or Edge; accuracy can vary.
- I can't find my download link: check your Gumroad receipt email or your Gumroad library.
